Everyone's important, everyone is special

Willem

Cor first met Willem in the Zilverberg, a student flat in Amsterdam Noord. They had worked there  behind the bar. Cor asked Willem if he wanted to assist us for one day a week. We had been working 24/7 for a year and it got too heavy.

Willem fitted in well. He was half like us and half really himself. Not everyone was equally happy with that, but that was also the other way around. Not everyone was equally happy with us. Willem had fans and Willem ….. was Willem. He took beautiful pictures, had lots of humour, went his own way and corrected us when we went too far in altruism or in drink. At one point, he started a café himself, the Wall.
